I could have enjoyed your unique and unmistakable sound, because I can not imagine your birthday without listening to music."Original words: "Ich hätte gerne mit Dir gefeiert und mich an Deinem eigenen, unverkennbaren Sound erfreut, denn ohne Musik ist Dein Geburtstagsfest für mich unvorstellbar."

Friedel Berlipp was born in Burgdorf,Germany. Later in life he became Berry Lipman who, as a composer, arranger, producer and orquestra conductor had the opportunity to work with many German and international artists. Berry Lipman, the succesful composer and arranger, has given us over the years a collection of tremendous exquisite musical melodies of the type Party-Sound with latin touches and disco flair. He can now look back with pride at the amazing 5000 musical creations, many of them hits.

He began his musical career teaching violin and classical music. In 1945 he got his first contract as a musician. He worked for different radio stations, became orchestra head-conductor and composer at EMI, where he wrote and arranged hits for well known artists like Gitte, Conny Froboess, Chris Howland, Lale Andersen (Comeback 1965, "Ein Schiff wird kommen"), Cliff Richard, Wolfgang Sauer, Vico Torriani, Cindy & Bert, Camillo Felgen and Ilse Werner, among others.

Later he had the opportunity to work with other international artists like Charles Aznavour, Dalida und Zarah Leander. Vogue Germany called him in 1964 to work as head producer, and in this capacity he produced works for Petula Clark, Dionne Warwick, Pat Boone, Billy Vaughn and Jonny Teupen to cite only some well-know planetary artists. It was in those years when he made his name and international reputation. A star was born: Berry Lipman.

Since 1967 Berry Lipman has been working as a independent music producer. Together with the singer James Lloyd he celebrated his first worldwide success ("Keep On Smiling"). Also that year Berry founded the Berry Lipman Orchestra with which, like a magician, he created scores of hits out of his hat, with the carachteristic and striking "Berry Lipman Sound". One of his greatest hits was "La Parranda". He not only took German bands to unusual musical heights but also he became a regular performer of many radio stations and brought his swing sound to many loto TV loto programmes. The result of all this whirl of activity was the creation of classic compositions that , even today and in the age of music revivals, continue to charm the ears of listeners.

In the meantime Berry Lipman has reached the age of 85 next to his wife Trine von Stolzenau, songwriter of many of his compositions. To celebrate it, the public TV and Radio broadcaster WDR organised a thank-you programme featuring many of his songs.

Paramaribo Classics is a long deserved recognition CD of the master of the sound, Berry Lipman – one of the most successful heroes of the groovy lounge pop. Among others you will find Berry's cult-hits like the "Die Girls von Paramaribo"(worldwide versions, 5 versions in Brasil alone), "Let’s Dance Together" and "Sex World", as well as three unpublished works ( among them the demo version of "Kußunterricht" sung by none other than Berry Lipman himself)
